About the Kalenjin Community of Canada

Our Story (A Tapestry of Journeys):

We are a vibrant and growing community of Kalenjin people who have made Canada our home. Our journey began with individuals and families seeking new opportunities and a welcoming environment. Over time, we have built strong bonds, preserving our rich cultural heritage while embracing the Canadian spirit.

Each individual thread, woven with the strength, resilience, and spirit that has always characterized the Kalenjin, contributes to the rich tapestry of our community in Canada. We carry with us traditions of hard work, mutual support, and a deep connection to our heritage. As we build new lives and families, we are proud to be part of the Canadian mosaic, contributing our unique perspectives and talents to this multicultural nation.

Our Vision:

We envision a thriving and interconnected Kalenjin community in Canada, one that:

  • Preserves and Promotes our Culture: We strive to keep our traditions alive through language sharing, storytelling, cultural events, and the passing down of ancestral knowledge to our youth

  • Fosters Connection and Support: We aim to create a strong network where Kalenjin individuals and families across Canada can connect with one another for support, friendship, and a sense of belonging.

  • Provides Resources and Information: We aim to be a central point for information relevant to Kalenjin Canadians, including settlement resources, community events, and links to relevant organizations.

  • Honours our Heritage: We remember and honour our history, the wisdom of our elders, and the legacy that shapes who we are today.
